Coyotes vs Wild Pick – Friday, March 12th
Coyotes vs Wild Pick – Friday, March 12th: The Coyotes are coming off splitting two games with the Avalanche, where they were utterly dominated in every aspect except the score. In the first game, they were outshot 35-14 against an Avs team that was missing their best player in Nathan Mackinnon and 2 of their top 4 defensemen in Cale Makar and Bowen Byram, and a depth piece in JT Compher. In the 2nd game, Mackinnon came back, the others were still out, and they were outshot even worse, 46-14. Exceptional goaltending from Antti Raanta kept them in it. I’ve talked about it often; the top Coyotes forwards are small and easy to play against. Their defense is quality, and Jacob Chychrun is coming into his own.

The Wild are missing their best player and 2 of their top 4 defensemen. They’ve won 5 straight at home and 3/4 overall. They played the Coyotes twice last week in Phoenix and beat them 5-1 in the first game and were up 2-0 after one period in the next game when the coyotes mounted an impressive comeback and scored five unanswered goals. This is a bad matchup for the Coyotes. The Wild have a lot of size. They can install their will on their opponent. This Wild team also has those five unanswered Coyote goals in the back of their mind. I talk about my love for this team often. Kirill Kaprizov and Mats Zuccarello feel like the missing pieces this team was looking for. I expect them to take out the Coyotes tonight.
