Rangers vs Sabres Pick: Thursday, January 28th

Rangers vs Sabres Pick: Thursday, January 28th: The Sabres are coming off beating these Rangers 3-2 at home on Tuesday night. The Sabres completely dominated in the face-off circle 39-17, dominated possession because of it, and were still outshot 30-24. Rasmus Ristolainen and the Buffalo power play are really stepping up, but I just don’t think the Sabres are a bet on team. Dylan Cozens is the real deal and is going to be a quality hockey player for a long time, but in a game where they dominate the face-off circle, outscore their opponent 2-0 on special teams you would assume they won comfortably and not squeaking by with a 3-2 victory.

We are 6 games into the season and it’s must-win time for the Rangers. Mika Zibanejad was 6/21 in the face off circle and Ryan Strome was 4/15. This is unacceptable. The Rangers centermen need to man up and give their team possession. There were times last year that Zibanejad looked like a top 10 center in the NHL. The Rangers need that right now. I simply feel if the Rangers play with real desperation and Igor Shesterkin steps up this team will win tonight.

The Sabres come into Thursday night having won 3 of their last 5 games and have outscored their opponents by an average of +0.6 goals per game while doing so. Meanwhile, the New York Rangers have just 1 win in their last 5 games, losing 4 straight after a win in their first game of the season. The Rangers have a +1 goal differential in their last 5, which is pretty decent considering just how terrible they have been so far this NHL season.
