Coyotes vs Blues Pick: Thursday February 4th

Coyotes vs Blues Pick: Thursday, February 4th: These teams met in a 4-3 St Louis Blues win on Tuesday night. The Coyotes played hard. They outshot the Blues 35-29 but lost the face-off battle 33-26. Christian Dvorak continued his strong play with his 4th and 5th goals of the season. The Coyotes have lost 3 of their last 5 games, and are not built to play conservative hockey, and I expect them to enjoy it when they get a chance to open it up. Arizona played in low scoring games against the Ducks, but the Ducks will be playing low scoring defensive games all year. They miss Oliver Ekman-Larsson badly, but he is close to returning.

The St Louis Blues are a different team than we remember them, they are not the same chippy and defensive-minded team that won the Stanley Cup back in 2019, they are much more offensive. They average 3.07 goals per game, and the market hasn’t caught up. During this four-game winning streak, they have averaged 4.75 goals per game. Toronto boy and former Sarnia Sting star Jordan Kyrou has been a revelation. Adding him and Hoffman to this lineup has been a massive boost for them offensively. They no longer need to wait for Robert Thomas to step up. This is a quality hockey team but so different than last year. Part of that change is signing Torey Krug and losing Alex Pietrangelo. This team will cash overs for us, and I’ll be very hesitant to back them as big favorites this year.
