Hawks vs Magic Pick: Wednesday, March 3rd

Hawks vs Magic Pick: Wednesday, March 3rd: Atlanta is on the 2nd game of a back-to-back after defeating the heat 94-80 in Nate MacMillan’s debut as head coach. All five starters scored in double digits, led by Trae Young’s 18 points and 10 assists. Young turned the ball over eight times. The Hawks turned the ball over 23 times as a team. Clint Capela went for 10 points with 17 boards. The Hawks defended with tenacity, but the Heat were playing without Jimmy Butler. The Heat shot just 37.35 from the field and 27.3% from behind the arc. Kris Dunn and Cam Reddish remain out of the lineup, but the player who the hawks really miss is De’Andre Hunter, who looked like he was coming into his own before hurting his surgically repaired right knee.

Bogdan Bogdanovic hasn’t carved himself out a big enough role on this team. They have seven players averaging double digits and Bogdanovic at 9.9. Now 2 of those guys averaging double digits are hurt in Reddish and Hunter, but this team has a lot of talent. Rajon Rondo is playing 15.1 minutes a game and averaging 3.7 points. I’m sure he didn’t think this what he was he was getting himself into when he signed with the Hawks.

Orlando has lost four straight. They are coming off a 130-124 loss at home to the Mavericks on Monday night. Vucevic went for 29 points, 15 rebounds, and 9 assists, while Evan Fournier went for 26, and Michael Carter Williams went for 18 points, 8 boards and 6 assists. With Cole Anthony out of the lineup, this is a big opportunity for Carter Williams. This team has dealt with a lot of injuries this year. They’ve been without Jonathan Isaac and Markelle Fultz; then they lost Aaron Gordon and Cole Anthony. James Ennis is out. Evan Fournier is dealing with a hamstring injury and may not be in the lineup for this one. He is listed as questionable.
