Eastern Kentucky vs Jacksonville State Pick: Tuesday, February 2nd: EKU has won eight straight games and is off to its best start since 1946-47, but had to put a pause to the momentum due to Covid contact tracing protocols. It is unclear if anyone won’t be available.

Eastern Kentucky’s last win was a massive 113-73 win at home over UT Martin on Thursday, Jan 21st. There was a lot of excitement with Brandon Knapper transferring to EKU, but he has only played four games and hasn’t been seen since January 7th. They won their last game without Tre King in the line-up, who averages 17.6 points per game. One can only guess that it has to due with Covid. Freshman Wendell Green Jr went for 25 points in just 23 minutes against UT Martin. He now averages 13.2 points and 5.2 assists per game. This EKU Colones team has put up solid offensive numbers none the less, and although they are currently ranked as one of the best offensive teams in the country, (having played far fewer games than most), they have still gone ‘Under’ the betting total more times than not (7 of 13 games) this season.

Jacksonville State almost stopped this EKU winning streak back on January 7th in a 69-66 overtime loss. Both teams shot poorly in that contest, but the difference was Jacksonville State turned the ball over 18 times compared to just seven turnovers for EKU. EKU’s Tre King, who may or may not be available, led all scorers with 16 points and 10 boards in that game. Jacksonville State won the boards’ battle and will have a much easier time doing it again if King is out.

The Gamecocks are coming off a very disappointing 85-66 loss at home to Morehead State on Thursday as 3.5point favourites. Their backcourt of Darian Adams and Jalen Finch were the only ones that came to play, scoring 35 of their 66 points. They went 3/6 from 3 while the rest of the team went 1/12. Their 6’10 senior center Brandon Huffman missed Thursday’s game, and it is unclear if he will be back for this. As a team, they hit 46.1% from the field, 35.1% from 3, and 70.4% from the line.
